The Military Reenactment Society is New Zealand's largest living history group with members based throughout New Zealand and overseas. Established in 2004 as part of the New Zealand wing of the Commemorative Air Force, it later split from the CAF to become a stand alone organization.

The Military Reenactment Society portrays a large variety of military units, starting with early New Zealand forces through to the World Wars and the Vietnam conflict. At public events such as the Museum of Transport and Technology's military open day the MRS exhibits period military camp displays and performs mock battles using blank ammunition and where permitted, pyrotechnics.

The  Military Reenactment Society is a non-political organisation which by accurate re-enactment aims to increase the public's awareness of what life was like for the average soldier of the past.
